San Jose Sharks forward Tomas Hertl goes “And-1” as he scores his fourth goal of the night

In what could easily be considered one of the best goals in hockey history, rookie forward Tomas Hertl of the San Jose Sharks channeled his inner And-1 mixtapes as he moved the puck in between his legs then flicked the trailing shot past New York Rangers goalie Martin Biron to make the score 8-2 in a game that eventually ended 9-2.

The goal was the young Czech Republic’s fourth goal of the night and sixth in two games.

As Joseph Haas, of Haas Style Interpretations, addressed in his poignant article on the lack of exposure and promotion of the NHL, even in markets with successful teams, casual hockey fans struggle to follow the sport on a nightly basis and rarely see game recaps on popular networks like ESPN or the new Fox1. Many are only seeing this highlight through second-hand media outlets or Youtube videos.

Hopefully with this incredible goal going viral and larger media outlets now showcasing it, the NHL will realize that in order to compete with the NFL, NBA and Major league baseball for fans, they must go the extra mile and shine the spotlight on the league itself as well as growing stars like Hertl.
